The sparkling, multi-hued iridescence of abalone shell has been used by luthiers to decorate fine musical instruments for hundreds of years. Our craftspeople painstakingly arrange and inlay small pieces of abalone between borders of delicate contrasting veneers called purfling, adding a tasteful and elegant statement in the shape of an intertwined Celtic knot. Designed specifically for Dusty Strings harps, it has been chosen to grace some of their finest instruments.
