| Triplett Harps also makes a fine selection of Celtic harps strung with bronze. The tone is pleasing and bell-like with a long sustain. The traditional style of playing wire-strung harps requires long fingernails and special damping techniques to control the length of sustain. They are generally considered more difficult to play than the nylon-strung harp. The strings also break more often and require frequent and accurate tuning. These harps are constructed entirely of hardwood, including the soundboard. They have a long sustain and sound best when played in the traditional manner with long fingernails. The 30-string Irish Harp and the Luna have a string spacing that feels normal to most harp players, while the 25-String Irish Lap Harp has a more narrow string spacing. | | | All wire-strung harps are available in walnut, maple or cherry wood and some have the option of Blade Sharping Levers (shown to the right). | |
