Becky's Bio
Thank God I sing in a choir! It was early 2006 when my alto section leader, Ruth, suggested that I stop griping about my then-current job and apply for a position at the Sylvia Wood’s Harp Center. The rest, as they say, is history.
.
Today, I know a lot more about harps, harp music and harp accessories than I could have dreamed possible! My daily duties vary depending on what needs doing, but in general, I answer the phones, handle wholesale orders, and most inventory issues.
As a violinist, I hold a BM in performance from Boston University and a MFA in performance from Purchase Conservatory (State University of New York Purchase). I still take playing gigs, but I've chosen steady work over the life of a freelancer/teacher. Other than freelancing as a violinist, most of my previous jobs have been for financial institutions in their presentation departments. I grew up in Connecticut and after college and graduate school I lived in New York City for four years. So it's kind of whimsical that I've ended up in LA, but it's amazingly good luck because there is only one Sylvia Woods Harp Center - and it's in southern California!
