No, you don’t normally use a pick when you are playing the harp! But if you are playing lots of glissandos in an orchestra, a felt pick can save your fingers, and make your glisses heard. Our new gray "Wedgie Rubber Picks" come in packs of 3, and are firmer than the felt picks that we sell.
Be nice to your fingers when playing repeated glisses: use our handy picks!
Born in County Mayo, in the west of Ireland, Grainne grew up playing traditional music on the tin whistle, before taking up first the concertina, and then the harp. She holds a degree from Queens University, Belfast, and is a qualified teacher of traditional Irish music. Grainne has toured throughout Europe and, more recently, throughout the U.S. with Scottish harper Billy Jackson. She has several CDs of solo harp, and can often be found teaching at music festivals throughout Ireland and abroad.
