Suzanne Guldimann’s Pastime with Good Company for lap harp features 27 Elizabethan songs and dances. Lyrics are included, along with historical notes on the pieces.

Although Suzanne Guldimann has arranged these songs for lap harps, they are fun to play on any size harp. The range of the music is 2½ octaves, from a C up to a G, and can be played on most lap harps, whether their range is C to C, or G to G. Arranged for advanced beginners to intermediate harp players. Chord symbols are included so that more advanced players, and players with larger harps, can add more notes to the arrangements. Fingerings are included. Suzanne, also a fine artist, created the cover artwork and illustrations. 55 pages, paperbound.

Elizabethan Splendour for the lap harp 06/26/2007 - by Gwen from Tehachapi, CA US
Elizabethan music is one of the most delightful eras to play. The songs range from tragic to romantic to delightfully silly. Suzanne Guldimann's collection has a little of everything and it is designed to fit on a lap harp. The songs can be easily expanded for a larger harp.

As with her other books, Guldimann's arrangements range from beginner to intermediate. Fingerings, chord symbols, historical notes and lovely illustrations are included in the package.

I particularly enjoyed her arrangement of Welladay, one of the most popular English renaissance ballads. It is a slow, tragic tune that is chillingly beautiful. Pastime with Good Company, attributed to Henry VIII, is a lively, festive tune that is fun and merry.

A perfect book for Renaissance Faire or historical settings or just for having a good time.
