I have been playing a pedal harp for three years and have been avoiding music with too many pedal changes. After using these exercises, I will be ready to tackle anything. It is easy to follow and really puts your hands and feet to work. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to brush up or improve their pedal proficiency.

Pedal Drill

Pedal Drill is not the ordinary, "ho-hum-I have to do this" type of practice tool. I always do warmups for my fingers, but now I actually enjoy playing warmups for pedal changes! I have even added dynamics as I go through the chord progressions. I pretend I am "in the pit" playing music for an old silent film. I alter the speed and make the drill ebb and flow as I imagine action on the old silent screen. I think it is a great warm up and fun to play!

Pedal Drill is a wonderful exercise for the aspiring pedal harpist. This exercise allows you to practice the technique that is necessary to achieve swift and soundless pedal movement. Pedal Drill also trains your fingers in speed and agility with its 40 different studies. The harmonic sequence makes this exercise interesting and fun to play. I would recommend Pedal Drill to any pedal harpist.
