    Excellent!

As a teacher I use this book with many of my students. It contains exercises for all grades, from beginner to more advanced harpists, with clear fingering. It trains everything from intervals and chords, to playing different fingers in the left and right hand.
I really like the use of the I-IV-V-I chord progression with each chord starting in a different inversion. It's a good way to also train the ear to hear the chord progressions.
And when you have studied all the exercises, you can do them again and train on speed. Excellent!

    Exercises Are Great!

"Harp Exercises for Agility and Speed" by Deborah Friou has been one of the most helpful books in my harp book collection. As a beginning harpist, I was able to see the proper fingerings for each of the exercises. As I progressed to other written arrangements, understanding the proper fingering facilitated the learning of new songs. I recommend this book to every beginner harpist (and even more experienced players).
I have been playing harp for 10 years, and continue to use the Deborah Friou exercise book to add accuracy and speed to my playing. It has made rapid passages much easier to play. Her exercises work!

This book takes a methodical approach to building technique and is easy to use, even for a harpist without a teacher. Does not contain any pictures of hand position or posture at the harp.
