Over the Rainbow from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz has become one of America's most treasured tunes. After the film was completed, and was running in limited previews, Over the Rainbow was actually cut from the movie because the MGM studio manage said it "slowed down the picture." Luckily for us all, it was reinstated in the final version. This Academy Award winning song was written by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Hamburg and arranged for intermediate/advanced level pedal harp by Paul Baker. Expressive and lyrical, this pop song is beautiful on the harp and thoughtfully arranged! 3 pages; pedal markings and fingerings included.
For PEDAL harp only.
This music can be played on a pedal harp with 40 or more strings,
including 3/4-size pedal harps.
Lyrics (not included in the music):
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?i>
