Alberto Salvi (1893-1983) began playing the harp at age 5 in his father’s harpmaking shop in Venice, Italy. After moving to the U.S. in 1914, he became the harpist for the Chicago NBC Orchestra beginning in the late 30s, and appeared repeatedly on their “Artists’ Showcase” through 1965. This CD is taken from old record and radio broadcasts from the 1920s to 40s. The background noise and sounds of age have not been removed from these tracks, in order to preserve the authenticity of their original era.
