Máire ní Chathasaigh has been a major influence on Irish harp playing. With her knowledge of traditional music as played on other instruments, and her ear for her native music, she has evolved an outstanding traditional style for her instrument, particularly in relation to dance music.
On The New Strung Harp Máire plays traditional Irish music on gut-strung harps, adding haunting vocals in English and Gaelic on a few of the songs.
