This CD is a re-release of two recordings from the 1960's. The first selection is Handel’s well-known Harp and Lute Concerto, in B flat, Op. 4, No. 6, which is almost always performed today without the original lute part. This recording with Osian Ellis (harp), Desmond Dupre (lute), Thurston Dart (organ) and the Philomusica of London conducted by Granville Jones, reconstructs the original form and sound of this concerto. This recording also includes Handel’s Concerto for Harp in F, Op. 4 No. 5.
The remainder of this fine CD is taken from Marisa Robles’ Harp Music of France and Harp Music of Spain solo harp recordings. Music by Albeniz, Francisque, Grandjany, de Falla, Salzedo, Hasselmans, Nadermann and Fauré.
