Music for Harp CD by Mariko Anraku: Classical Harp CDs

Mariko Anraku has won attention as one of the world’s outstanding young harpists. She has chosen the selections on this CD from the best-loved classical harp repertoire. Some were composed specifically for the harp and others have been adapted or arranged for the instrument. Saint-Saëns' Le Cygne (The Swan) and Faure's Après un rêve also include cello. Other composers include Satie, Hindemith, Scarlatti, Handel, Debussy, Salzedo, and Rota.

Since her debut with the Toronto Symphony conducted by Andrew Davis, Mariko Anraku has performed with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the New Japan Philharmonic. As a recitalist, she has performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, Jordan Hall in Boston, the Op‚ra Comique in Paris, the Palazzo dell'Esposizioni in Rome and the Casals, Kioi and Oji Halls in Tokyo. Mariko holds an M.A. from Juilliard and has studied with Nancy Allen, Judy Loman and Kumiko Inoue. She has also studied oriental art history at Tokyo's Sophia University.
