This absolute gem of a CD by "Ruth Berman, Her Harp and Her Orchestra" features 22 delightful tracks by one of the most versatile harpists of the Swing era. The music was originally recorded between 1945 and 1953, and has been digitally re-mastered for this CD. Ruth Berman's work ranged from her early orchestral appearances with the NBC Symphony Orchestra, to recordings of her jazz harp arrangements, to her more than 48 years of playing in the studio orchestras of NBC, CBS and ABC. This CD, with the fun feel of old-time radio music, is a must-have for every harpist's and Swing music aficionado's library!
The enclosed booklet of wonderful photos includes a photo with her teacher, Carlos Salzedo, and with other attendees of the Salzedo Harp Colony in Camden Maine in August of 1937.
To this day, Ruth Berman Harris, active as a composer, is a teacher of a new generation of harpists at the Music Conservatory of Westchester in White Plains, NY and the Hoff-Barthelson School of Music in Scarsdale, New York.
