Pur (Pure), this Welsh harp and voice CD by Siân James, was recorded live with no over-dubs. The performances captured here are very powerful and are evidence of her experience and understanding of traditional songs that are close to her heart. Apart from Mordaith I America (Sea Voyage to America) and the arrangement of Dylan Thomas' Evening Prayer, all the songs are traditional, and all but 3 are sung in Welsh.

Sian James is an actress, harpist and a highly regarded Welsh traditional folk singer. Raised in a Welsh-speaking family, in a small village in the heart of Wales, Sian has been performing on stage since the age of three. She learned piano at age 6, violin at 8 and harp at 11. At 14 she began her concert career and shortly after began arranging and composing. She went on to study music at college. She has made a number of critically acclaimed recordings, and has toured extensively. Her music has appeared on various BBC programs and several film scores, including The Englishman Who Went up a Hill and Came down a Mountian. She has also appeared in person as an actress in several BBC TV shows, including the Welsh drama Iechyd Da, and hosted a six-part series on Celtic music for Welsh television network S4C.
