Description: "Harmonic curve" is a mathematical term describing a parabola, or a U-shaped curve formed by the intersection of a plane and a cone. Musically, it is the term for the shape of a harp's neck (the piece across the top). A curve is necessary so the harp's strings can change in length rapidly as the notes get higher. The exact shape of this piece varies depending on the luthier (harpmaker). On both pedal and lever harps, the harmonic curve will resemble the design depicted on these wristwarmers.

These versatile accessories were designed by Caroline Steinford to warm the wrist area and backs of the hands without getting in the way of the palms or fingers. One finger loop keeps each wristwarmer in place. A pattern for the coordinating "Harmonic Curves" Tam is available separately.

Sizes: Women's Small (Women's Medium, Women's Large / Men's Small, Men's Medium) Men's Large. Fits wrist circumference: 6 (7, 8, 9) 10" / 15.25 (18, 20, 23) 25.5 cm. Actual circumference: 7 (8, 9, 10) 11" / 18 (20.3, 23, 25.5) 28 cm. Photos show Women's Small in Frog Tree Sport, Colors #000 (off-white) and 008 (brown).

Yarn requirements: 1 (2, 2, 2) 2 skeins of each color or approx. 130 (150, 170, 190) 200 yd / 120 (140, 155, 175) 185 m each of two colors of sock or sportweight yarn.

Difficulty: Intermediate.

Skills needed: Knitted cast-on, knit, purl, working in the round, decreasing, following a colorwork pattern from a chart, applied I-cord.

Construction: Wristwarmers are worked in the round from the cuff to the wrist. Stitches are placed on a holder and work is continued flat. Finally, I-cord is knit onto the top edge.
