Pedal or Lever Harp

Saxtons River Suite: A Year in Vermont by Carol Wood PDF Download

Item #p7683
$10.00

For lever or pedal harp.

These four elegant, almost moody compositions depict the seasons in Vermont, as experienced by Carol Wood. Rather than having a lyric and solid melody, these pieces for intermediate players paint images. This is a delightful, impressionistic style work!

Summer: Sunlight on the River hovers around the key of G and has a rolling left hand that will take some work (lots of crossing over and under). The right hand is sparse and is mainly supportive of the left hand. This movement ends with a shimmery slow bisbigliando.
October hovers around D minor. The sparse left hand consists mostly of half notes and has harmonics throughout. The right hand has a section of parallel thirds that requires good technique.
First Snowfall is mostly rolled chords, and hovers around the key of F.
Spring begins with some quick arpeggios followed by sustained notes. It is straightforward and consists mainly of chords thereafter.

The pieces are in the key of C or 1 sharp. There are a few fingerings in some of the pieces. The PDF is 16 pages, including 9 pages of music, and some beautiful photos of Vermont!
