This book turned out to be a great beginning book for my daughter, who was seven years old when she began learning to play. Since the harp was her first instrument, she could not read music at the time. The pieces go from short exercises that teach note reading and finger placement, to more "advanced" pieces that build on previous lessons, layering other skills over previous basic technique. All lessons are sequential so the beginner will develop a solid basic understanding of note reading, finger placement, and harp technique as they follow through the lessons in the book. Towards the end of the book, some of the short pieces are pretty enough, and "just-long-enough-but-not-too-long", that they could be played as little recital pieces. Her teacher liked the book so well that she began recommending it to other students.
