I love this book! I have read it and use it when adding fingerings to music without it. It is easy to understand. Sylvia explains things so well. Thank you Sylvia!

Sylvia Woods has written the harpist's "bible" of fingering! Much harp music fails to provide fingering. Piano music routinely does! Good comfortable fingering makes playing a passage work!

Sylvia Woods has again produced a great resource. THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge and experience and memorializing it in your publications. Fingering is so critical and far from an exact science. This publication provides a formula, the rationale for the fingering choices, and alternatives. I also liked the practice exercises, reinforcing what you have learned.

If you are a beginner or are having any difficulty figuring out how to finger a harp piece, or even if you just want to try out a different fingering, this book is designed to help you. In addition to showing various fingering combinations, Sylvia explains the reasoning behind the fingerings. The book covers almost every situation you might encounter. I only wish it had been written many years ago when I began studying harp, as it would have solved a lot of problems for me and saved me a lot of time, energy , and frustration!

Another great book because it covers one of the most important topics about playing the harp. It makes your life easier and it helps you to play better and to gain awareness in your playing. Fingering is something that is supposed to be learned spontaneously exercise after exercise. Unfortunately, it's not like this for everybody. The book is extremely clear and explains everything you need to make your own fingering patterns. And most importantly, the book explains why you should use a certain fingering pattern so it makes you understand what you are doing while you're playing. This book with the other book "Music Theory and Arranging" really makes the difference.

This book really taught me to use the correct fingers, to not develop bad habits. Once developed it becomes easier, that's been my experience.
