This book is wonderful for fans of Jane Austen and her era. However, I was disappointed, for while the pieces' names are foreign, most of the actual tunes are usually quite well known. For example, "My Lodging is on the Cold Ground" is "Believe Me if All Those Endearing Young Charms". Unless you look at each sample of each song, you won't find this out until it is too late. Since I was looking for new repertoire, I wouldn't have bought the book if I'd known this. This is not particularly an issue, but it is worth being aware of. Otherwise, good beginner arrangements, and a fun and nerdy book to have. :)

Love it! Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon

I adore all of Suzanne Guldimann's books - this one is no exception! Full of pretty and relatively easily learned arrangements, that are a joy to play. Family and friends always enjoy hearing the pieces, as well. Ms. Guldimann's various arrangements make up a large part of my repertoire.
