I enjoy all of Sylvia's compilation books. I use the "22 Romantic Songs" book at every wedding reception. St Paddy's Day isn't complete without "50 Irish Melodies". For me the "Groovy Songs of the Sixties" is fun to play and makes everyone of that generation smile. This week I had another wonderful moment courtesy of Sylvia. I've played the "Wizard Of Oz" book since it came out, and generally include that sweet version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" for flower girls and ring bearers walking down the aisle. Yesterday I was volunteering with my harp in a nursing home. The residents of this facility are very old, and generally quite ill. Their wheelchairs in a semi-circle around me, they love looking at the harp and listening to music from their generation. The hour was almost finished, and I suggested that they close their eyes and go on a journey with me . . . to follow the yellow brick road. Using the medley that Sylvia included in the book, I played each song with some of the residents singing along. That music ending with "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" was just perfect. It brought tears to their eyes, and mine too. Thank you Sylvia.
