My first encounter with "God's Time is Best" was as a teenage organ student learning to play E. Power Biggs' arrangement of this piece. The undulating pulse and expressive melody have stayed with me over the years. One of Bach's early works scored for instrument ensemble as an opening to his cantata of the same name; I sought to capture his original beautiful, prayerful, mystical, evocative mood in this accessible arrangement for harp. Appropriate for any moment of contemplation, my arrangement is in the key of D (F#, C# in the key signature) with no further lever or pedal changes and is suitable for harps with 34 or more strings. I encourage you to explore the dynamic range and tempo best suited to your instrument and performance space, though I recommend a slow tempo.
