Douglas has a knack for turning familiar hymn tunes into attractive new arrangements. The player and listener alike will find themselves transported to the Blue Ridge Mountains with majestic views of the Appalachian Valley and the folklife the region is known for. While these hymns may need no introduction, these arrangements will have everyone enjoying them as if for the very first time.

Each arrangement includes a statement of the hymn followed by variations. The statement is suitable for all harpists from beginners onward and can be played on its own. The additional intermediate variations work well when a church service or recital calls for a longer piece of music. Harpists may end the arrangement wherever it makes musical sense, such as at the end of the hymn statement or an interlude in the variations.
