Joy Slavens arranged these well-known Christmas carols for beginning harp players. Here's how she describes the two volumes.
Joy at Christmas #1 was written especially for the beginner harpist with up to one year of study. Each piece has a short introduction and an ending. Some of the pieces move up or down an octave to have the student begin feeling the full range of the harp. The left-hand accompaniment is one note at a time, or 2-note chords. Keys range from 1 flat through 1 sharp. There are no fingerings.

Joy at Christmas #2 is for the late beginner. It is slightly harder than Volume 1, with a variety of 3-note chords. Introductions, endings, and interesting chords make this book just right for the 2- to 3-year player. Four pieces are in the key of C, and four are in F (1 flat). There are no fingerings.
