Howard Blake composed this ethereal song for the beloved animated film "The Snowman" in 1982. Margot Krimmel has arranged three harp solos (simplified, lever, and pedal) and a duet version in this book. The 2-page simplified version is for 26-string harps, and has no lever changes. The other solos for larger harps are 3 pages each with extensive lever/pedal changes. In the key of E-minor, with chord symbols and no fingerings. A lead sheet with lyrics is included. 19 pages spiral-bound.

I have a lever harp and so I've only used the lever harp arrangement of this piece. That arrangement is lovely and the lever changes are well placed, which makes it easy to learn. My only criticism is that I didn't need the pedal harp, duet or simplified version, so $12.95 is kind of pricey for the one three-page arrangement that I did want. That's the only reason I gave it a 4. Otherwise, I'm glad that I have it, and would recommend it, even with this drawback.

Unique minor key solo

If you're looking for something unique in which you can be expressive, this is it! In E minor, the lovely chords do make you think of falling snow. I ended up playing and performing both the solo and duet versions, and enjoyed playing the duet arrangement with another harpist, so was glad I had it!

Margot Kimmel's sweet harp arrangement is dreamy and uplifting. There are not too many notes but many are above the staff making the initial read difficult. However, the repeated phrase patterns make it easy to learn. Do add this to your repertoire for quiet, settling times.
