Harp Teacher List

Harp Teacher List

Harp lessons are very useful, and extremely important for beginning (and advanced!) players. We are happy to provide this list of harp teachers for you.

This list is organized in three sections:
  • United States teachers are listed by state and then zip code. If you live near another state, be sure to check those listings as well. Also, some teachers have requested to be listed in two states, so scroll to the bottom of the listings in your state to see any extra listings from neighboring states.
  • Teachers in other countries are listed after the states below.
  • Alphabetical teacher list by last name. Use this final section if you know the name of the teacher you would like to contact.

Online lessons. Although hands-on in-person lessons are often the best, if there are no teachers in your area, you might consider taking lessons on your computer, phone, or iPad through Skype, FaceTime, Zoom, or other online programs.

You can have your lesson in your own home, and it doesn't matter if you and your teacher are in the same city . . . or even the same state . . . or the same country! For example, Sylvia Woods lives in Hawaii and currently teaches students throughout the US and Canada, as well as in Australia, Europe, and Asia.

To find teachers who teach online, look for the square blue Skype logo with the S in the middle of the teacher listings.

How to choose a teacher
If there are several teachers you are considering, we suggest you contact each one and see which one will best meet your needs. Here are some questions you might ask prospective teachers.
#1. Do I need to bring my harp to my lesson?
#2. How long is each lesson, and how often do you recommend having lessons (i.e. weekly, monthly etc.)?
#3. What books and other accessories will I need to purchase?
#4. What is the cost of each lesson?
#5. If the harp student is a young child, ask what the minimum age is and if there are other prerequisites for children.

If you are a harp teacher and would like to be included in this list, please complete our teacher questionnaire. When finished, please send an email to sylvia@harpcenter.com letting her know you have completed the questionnaire, and she will add your listing to this site.

Please note that the Sylvia Woods Harp Center does not necessarily endorse any of the teachers on this list.
