Brenda Bowen Cox (Bryn as she is known to many) holds degrees in Music Education, Deaf Education and Audiology. She began composing and arranging in high school in her native Indiana. Some years later, she made the leap from classical music to folk music and acquired her first harp. She has frequently traveled to Canada's Cape Breton Island to study its Celtic-based music with several famous "Capers." She studied harp in Ireland at An Griannan with Maire ni Chathasaigh, with Liz Cifani at Harper's Land, and with Elaine Cook, Principal Harpist for the Lexington Philharmonic. For many years she toured with the Kentucky-based Celtic band, Ceol Cridhe. As a Certified Music Practitioner, she volunteers as a therapeutic musician for two local hospices and a regional medical center.

Brenda wrote an article for Sylvia's monthly e-newsletter, telling about her harp journey. You can read the article here.
