Erik Ask-Upmark studied musicology and music history in Gothenburg, Sweden, and is a professional performer of the Celtic harp, Baroque double harp, and the Swedish bagpipes. His love of traditional Irish music led him to the Celtic harp, which in turn led him to arranging Scandinavian folksongs on the harp. Erik has earned the title of "Riksspelman" (Master Musician of the Realm) in his native country of Sweden. He divides his time between early music and Nordic roots projects, both as a soloist and with his groups Svanevit, Dram, and Falsobordone.
