Growing Toward the Light is a collection of 13 pieces that Carol Wood began working on during a period of great sadness when she and her husband discovered he was suffering from a kind of dementia similar to Alzheimer's. Only a few of the pieces in the collection reflect the heartbreak and grief that followed, but, as Carol writes in her introduction, many musical friends encouraged her to try to keep playing and composing. Several of the pieces are dedicated to these friends, and many celebrate the beauty of trees or snow or even sleep.

This collection includes 12 original compositions by Carol, and her arrangement of one traditional Irish piece: Bonny Portmore. The music is for intermediate to advanced lever or pedal harpists. Two octaves below middle C are needed. The pieces are in the key of C or 1 sharp. A few require F#, C#, or G# lever changes, which are marked in the music. Pedal changes are not indicated. Some fingerings are included. This 37-page PDF includes 30 pages of music.
