Born in County Mayo, in the west of Ireland, Grainne grew up playing traditional music on the tin whistle, before taking up first the concertina, and then the harp. She holds a degree from Queens University, Belfast, and is a qualified teacher of traditional Irish music. Grainne has toured throughout Europe and, more recently, throughout the U.S. with Scottish harper William Jackson. She has several CDs of solo harp, and can often be found teaching at music festivals throughout Ireland and abroad.
