Virginia Teachers

He has an AAA in Harp Performance, and Grade 6 of the ABRSM with distinction. He has been teaching since 1998.

Jen teaches private and group lessons for children and adults at her studio. She teaches through Skype, FaceTime and Zoom, Messenger Rooms, Google Meet/Duo, WebEx, and other formats as they become available. No previous musical training is required. Jen specializes in Celtic music, and also teaches arranging, improvisation and therapy music. She has an MS degree in Gifted and Talented Education, and has been teaching since 2005.

John teaches all musical styles, and offers recitals. He teaches in both English and Spanish, and has been teaching since 1988. John is also a harp maker.

Laura teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio or via Skype, Duo, or Zoom. No previous musical training is required. She has lever harps and pedal harps available for her students to rent. Laura enjoys teaching classical, orchestral, and sacred music. She offers recitals and a harp circle for her students and virtual recitals if necessary. Ella habla Espanol. She has a Masters of Music in harp performance, and 20+ years as a Kindermusik instructor. Laura has been teaching harp since the early 90's and she understands the pedagogical processes involved in learning the instrument.

Brenda teaches private and group lessons for all ages at her studio. Long distance learning is also available through Skype, FaceTime, or Zoom. No previous musical training is required. She has lever harps for rent to her students. Brenda teaches all learning styles and genres of music, specializing in Celtic music, therapeutic music, theory and arranging. She has degrees in Music Education, Education, and Audiology. She is a Certified Music Practitioner, and has been teaching since 1992. She studied with Elaine Cook, Maire ni Chathasaigh and Deborah Henson-Conant.

Jaclyn teaches private and group lessons for children and adults at her studio, at the homes of local students and also through Skype. No previous musical training is required. She has pedal harps for rent to her students. Jaclyn teaches all musical styles, specializing in classical and orchestral music. She also teaches arranging and improvisation, and offers harp ensembles and recitals. Jaclyn studied with Elizabeth Richter and has a Bachelor of Arts in Harp Performance and a Master of Music in Harp Performance. Jaclyn graduated with her Doctor of Arts Degree in Harp Performance in July of 2016. She has been teaching since 2003.

No previous musical training is required, and she offers beginning piano for her youngest students. Elisa specializes in classical and orchestral music, and also teaches composition, arranging, improvisation, and modern, pop, Celtic, and folk music. She offers recitals and harp ensembles. She has Bachelors and Masters of Music degrees in Harp with a minor in Theory. She studied with LaVerne Peterson, Carlos Salzedo, and Alice Chalifoux, and has been teaching since 1967.

Mary teaches private and group lessons for children and adults at her studio. She will also travel to the homes of local students. No previous musical training is required. Mary teaches all musical styles, specializing in classical and pop music. She also offers theory classes. She has Bachelors of Music in harp performance.

Colleen teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio, as well as at Virginia Harp Center, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Liberty University. She will also travel to the homes of local students. No previous musical training is required. She has pedal harps for rent to her students. Colleen teaches classical, orchestral, modern, pop, jazz, Celtic, folk, and religious music, as well as arranging and music theory. She offers recitals and harp ensembles. She studied with Ann Yeung, June Han, and Laura Hearne and has DMA, MMA, MM, and BM degrees. Colleen has been teaching since 2004.

Rachel teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio, as well as at the homes of local students. Piano background is suggested, but not required. She has lever harps for rent to her students. Rachel teaches all musical styles, specializing in classical and orchestral music. She also teaches music theory and Eurhythmics, and offers recitals and harp ensembles for her students. Rachel studied with Yolanda Kondonassis and Anastasia Jellison, and has BM and MM degrees from Cleveland Institute of Music. Rachel has been teaching since 2007.

Kirsten teaches all musical styles, specializing in classical and therapy music. She offers recitals, harp ensembles, and theory classes. She has Bachelors of Music from Indiana University, and studied with Jacqueline Bartlett and Susann McDonald. She has been teaching since 2007.

Hannah teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio and at a music store. She will travel to the homes of local students, and also teaches through Skype. She teaches all levels of lever harp, and beginning to intermediate pedal harp. No previous musical training is required. She has lever harps for rent to her students. Hannah teaches classical, orchestral, Celtic and religious music, and offers recitals for her students. She has studied with Heidi O'Gara, Kerstin Allvin, Rachel Ferris, Bonnie Goodrich and Dr. Louisa Woodson. She has been teaching since 2004.
