Michigan Teachers

Laura teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio, as well as through Zoom, FaceTime, and Skype. She will also travel to the homes of local students. No previous musical training is required. Laura teaches all musical styles, specializing in classical and religious music. She also teaches music theory. Laurie studied with Kerstin Allvin, Lydia Cleaver, and Mary Bartlett and has a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree. She teaches in English or Spanish and has been teaching since 2011.

Paula teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio. No previous musical training is required. Paula teaches all musical styles, specializing in classical and pop music. She has a Bachelor's degree in Music and has been teaching since 1987.

June teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio. No previous musical training is required. June specializes in classical and early music, and also teaches modern, Celtic, and folk music. She offers recitals and incorporates theory into her harp lessons. She has Bachelor's and Master's of Music degrees, and has State of Michigan certifications for Music K-12 and Fine Arts 7-12.

Carol teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio, as well as through Skype. No previous musical training is required. She has lever harps for rent to her students. Carol teaches Celtic music, and composition, arranging, and improvisation. She offers harp ensembles for her students, and has been teaching since 1994. She has a BA in French and Vocal Music from the University of Michigan.

Christa teaches private and group lessons for children and adults at her studio, as well as through Skype. No previous musical training is required. Christa specializes in arranging and jazz, and also teaches improvisation and classical, orchestral, pop, Celtic, and folk music. She offers recitals and harp ensembles for her students. She has a Bachelor's of Music from Michigan State University, and a Master's of Music from Boston University. She studied with Lucile Lawrence, Velma Froude and Alice Chalifoux, and has been teaching since 1983.

Brittany teaches private and group lessons for children and adults at her studio, and at the Flint School of Performing Arts. No previous musical training is required. She has both lever harps and pedal harps for rent to her students. Brittany specializes in classical and orchestra music, and also teaches arranging, improvisation, and modern, pop, jazz, Celtic, folk, and religious music. She offers recitals and harp ensembles for her students. She has a Bachelor's of Music degree from the University of Arizona, and a Master's of Music from the University of Michigan. She studied with Carrol McLaughlin, Lynne Aspnes, Joan Holland, and June Han. Brittany has been teaching since 2003.

Margaret teaches private and group lessons for children and adults at her studio. No previous musical training is required. Margaret specializes in ethnic, religious, popular, folk and early classics music. She offers harp ensembles and harp circles for her students. Her degrees and certifications include: Music education, Emeritus Teacher of Piano, and IHTP and CMP certificates. She studied with Albert Fillmore and Mary Bartlett, and has been teaching since 1998.

Patricia teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio. No previous musical training is required. She teaches classical, orchestral and modern music, and offers recitals. She has a Masters of Music degree from The Julliard School, and is the Principal Harpist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

Belle teaches private lessons for children and adults at the homes of local students. No previous musical training is required. She teaches classical and orchestral music, and music theory. Belle is currently a Music Performance student at MSU, and has studied with Sister Mary Margaret, Beth Colpean, and Chen-Yu Huang. She has been teaching since 2017.

Phyllis teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio. Previous musical training is helpful. Phyllis specializes in classical and therapy music, and also teaches improvisation, pop, Celtic, folk, early, and religious music. She has a Bachelor of Music Degree from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo.

Martha teaches private and group lessons for children and adults at her studio, and at Hope College, Grand Valley State University, and Aquinas College. A minimum of 2 years of piano is highly recommended. She has lever harps for rent to her students. Martha teaches all musical styles, specializing in classical, Celtic and therapy music. She teaches improvisation and music theory, and offers harp ensembles and recitals. She studied with Elizabeth Richter, Lucile Lawrence, Alice Chalifoux, and Lynne Wainwright Palmer. She has Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees, and is a CHTP Certified Harp Therapy Practitioner. She teaches in both English and German, and has been teaching since 1994.

"Group lessons are offered on a limited basis. One-on-one instruction is tailored to students' abilities with respect. Expectations are challenging but reasonable."

Alexandra teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio, as well as through Skype. She will also travel to the homes of local students. No previous musical training is required. Alexandra teaches all musical styles, and has been teaching since 2002. She studied harp with Louise Pratt, and piano with Gayle Dudley.
