Rita Linck Rice
Rita teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio. She will also travel to the homes of local students. No previous musical training is required. Rita teaches all musical styles, specializing in classical, orchestral, and folk music. She also teaches music theory and piano. Rita studied with Alice Chalifoux, Patricia Pence Sokoloff, and Lucille Lawrence. She has BM and MM degrees and is Suzuki I certified. She has been teaching since 1992.

Anne teaches all musical styles, specializing in classical and South American music. She has Bachelor's of Music and Master's of Music degrees from Indiana University, and teaches at the Univeristy of New Mexico. She has been teaching since 1976.

"My music teacher studied pedal harp with Marcel Grandjany in New York City. I played with the Celtic Coyote folk band for two years which was an incredible learning opportunity -- they were all my teachers.
Lessons are based on your goals and interests. We will start where you are learning beautiful simple pieces as you learn correct technique. Lessons include painless theory. playing by ear, reading music, and improvising. With a good foundation you can go as far as you'd like."

Jocelyn Chaparro
Jocelyn teaches private lessons for children and adults at her studio, as well as through Skype, FaceTime, and Zoom. No previous musical training is required. She requires parents of young students to learn tuning and basic harp maintenance until the student is ready to take on the responsibility. Jocelyn teaches all musical styles, specializing in classical and religious music. She also teaches arranging and music theory. She will offer harp ensembles and recitals once the Covid restrictions are lifted. She encourages her students to play with other instrumentalists and to play in churches and nursing homes. Jocelyn studied with Mildred Dilling, Ruth Negri, and Assunta del Aquila. She has Bachelors of Music degree and an Artists Diploma, and has been teaching since 1980.

I teach the Grandjany technic and believe it to be the most pure and efficient technique on both pedal and lever harp."

Miriam Shilling
Miriam offers harp lessons for children and adults at her studio in Abiquiu. No previous musical training is necessary. Miriam teaches a variety of music styles, specializing in classical music. She attended Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. She also played with All-State Orchestra 2 years, All-Eastern Orchestra 1 year, and went on tours to Southeast Asia and Scandinavia with the Long Island Youth Orchestra. Miriam studied with Jeanne Goldstein and Arlene Wangler in New York and has been teaching since 1997.
"I'm a professional harpist who's been playing weddings and events for over 35 years. While I highly recommend at least a year of piano lessons before beginning the harp, I will teach all levels. Adults and well-behaved children are always welcome."
