Harp Teacher List

Harp Teacher List

Harp Teacher Referral List

Harp lessons are very useful, and extremely important for beginning (and advanced!) players. We are happy to provide this list of harp teachers for you.

If there are several teachers in your area, we suggest you contact each one and see which one will best meet your needs. Here are some questions you might ask prospective teachers.
#1. Do I need to bring my harp to my lesson?
#2. How long is each lesson, and how often do you recommend having lessons (i.e. weekly, monthly etc.)?
#3. What books and other accessories will I need to purchase?
#4. What is the cost of each lesson?
#4. If the harp student is a young child, ask what is the minimum age, and if there are other pre-requisites for children.

This list is organized by state and then by zip code. Other metropolitan areas near the city location are listed in parentheses. If you live near another state, be sure to check those listings as well. Also, some teachers have requested to be listed under 2 states. So scroll to the bottom of your state to see any extra listings from neighboring states.

The icons below the cities indicate:
#1. what types of harps the teacher teaches: lever harp, pedal harp, or both
#2. if they give lessons through Skype
#3. if they teach children, adults, or both.

Teaches both lever and pedal harp Teaches through Skype or FaceTime Teaches all ages
Teaches lever harp only Teaches only children and teens
Teaches pedal harp only Teaches only teens and adults

Skype. Although hands-on in-person lessons are usually the best, if there are no teachers in your area, you might consider taking lessons on your computer through Skype. With Skype you can have your lesson in your own home, and it doesn't matter if you and your teacher are in the same city . . . or even the same state . . . or the same country! For example, Sylvia Woods lives in Hawaii and currently Skypes with students throughout the US and Canada, as well as in Australia, Europe, and China. To find teachers who teach through Skype look for the square blue Skype logo with the S in the middle.
