Laura Olson is a music educator with over 20 years of experience specializing in stringed instruments for Clovis Unified School District in central California. She also holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education as well as a Masters of Arts degree in Irish Traditional Music Performance (fiddle and harp) and is well known in the community for her love of ethnic music and instruments.
Her experience as a symphonic musician, ethnic musician, and film/TV composer led her to combine the three styles of music into her own compositions and arrangements. She owns her recording label Blue Steer Studios, which allows her to combine her success with knowledge of both the business and publishing aspects of the music industry, and she brings that into the classroom for her students.
Mossflower Country (2010) and her score for Border Guardians of Ackernon (2011) were composed using large scale orchestrations and choir in the scope of a big-budget feature film. Her album Gypsy Road was released in 2012 with proceeds going to Fresno Bully Rescue and Animal Compassion Team.
