William (Bill) Mahan was born and raised in Iowa but has lived and practiced architecture in Santa Barbara, California, for 50 years. Music and watercolors are his second loves. With only a little musical training in his youth, he began folk harp lessons in 1991 from Barbara Hilaire. With her encouragement, he began composing and has continued to compose a variety of music ever since. The cover artwork for all of his books are his original watercolors. Now retired from architecture, Bill and his wife Nyna share their home in the Santa Barbara foothills with their 2 cats and their dog.
William wrote an article for Sylvia's monthly e-newsletter, telling about his harp journey. You can read the article here.
