Pedal or Lever Harp

Standing in the Dark by Laura Zaerr PDF Download

Item #p7189

For lever or pedal harp.

Here is how Laura Zaerr describes her composition for intermediate to advanced lever or pedal harp.
This piece was written at a time in my life when doors seemed to be closing all around me. I found solace in a Rilke poem called "You Darkness" translated by David Whyte. The idea is comfort in the dark. Sometimes when I walk in the woods at night, I don't use a flashlight so I can develop night vision. When you embrace the darkness in your life you may discover unimagined vistas. This piece starts out with a somber mood and suddenly, with a few lever changes, the theme is transformed into a triumphant dance. With inner lines, agonizing suspensions, and contrapuntal motion this piece is surprisingly complex. If you are looking for a rewarding challenge this will fill the bill.

This 3-page piece is in the key of B-flat (2 flats) and requires E and A-flat lever changes within the music.
