For lever or pedal harp, with optional voice.
Here is how Kathleen Blackwell-Plank describes her Lullabies for Heart's Ease collections:
Lullabies are the intimate music of the home found in cultures throughout the world. These comforting
songs establish a safe place and serve as a sleep aid. They call forth memories of multiple generations. Lullabies are portable. Like prayers or beloved stories, we can take them with us. For refugees they can reestablish a sense of home. My "Lullabies for Heart's Ease" collections offer the opportunity to travel the world and experience the beauty of lullabies. These arrangements explore the unique and beautiful tonal qualities of the harp.
Kathleen Blackwell-Plank has made intermediate arrangements for lever or pedal harp of three Hispanic lullabies.
A Las Puertas del Cielo (At the Gates of Heaven) is a sixteenth-century Basque cradle song in F major (1-flat) that was brought to New Mexico by Spanish explorers. The arrangement utilizes rolled chords, grace notes and has lyrics in Castilian Spanish with an English translation provided.
Aruru mi niño (Hushaby My Baby) is a lullaby in C major which is known throughout the Spanish diaspora. This version comes from Cuba. Woven into the introduction, interlude and coda are an Argentinian and a second Cuban version of this popular lullaby. This arrangement uses occasional rolled chords and lyrics are provided in Spanish and English.
Canciónes de Cuna Nahuatl: Macochi Pitentzin (Sleep My Little Child) is a lullaby in C minor (3-flats). Lyrics are provided in the Nahuatl language of Aztec people of central Mexico and in English translation. This gentle arrangement utilizes arpeggios and occasional rolled chords.
